Do Strong Readers Need Speed Reading?

I picked up this topic because i seem to me very interesting and kind of personal to all of us who like reading.

If you’re a strong reader, do you truly need speed reading? More to the point, why keep your reading level at basic comprehension and average speed?

Which basically is exactly what it sounds like when you are little, you learn how to read by a technique called letter-by-letter reading. You sound out each letter and over time, you can form them into whole words. Kids learn this procedure really young when they are shown the letters of the alphabet and the noise associated with each letter.

You would not stop at letter-by-letter reading if you understood just how much more you would leave reading by carrying on to word-by-word reading, which is the capability to recognize entire words. Why limit yourself to block-by-block reading that involves brief blocks of words when you can increase that pleasure and understanding even further by discovering how to increase those blocks?

Speed reading is more than getting through a stack of words at high speed. It increases the text you take in at one time, which provides you a better grasp of what you’ve read which in turn increases your ability to understand what you’re checking out in bigger, much faster dosages. We all shift gears when we check out, depending upon what we’re reading. When we come across text with new ideas, we automatically read text including familiar words and concepts quickly and slow down. Speed reading gives you another gear to shift into, conserves you time, increases your reading comprehension, and provides you an automatic edge.

Having the capability to speed read permits you to read as quickly through unknown text as you do with text that you have seen prior to. They can select up a book or file, invest no more than a couple of minutes going over it and have the same understanding and absorption that someone reading at a routine speed would have after spending a number of hours reading it.

If your reading skills are strong now, you can quickly and easily adapt to speed reading. Take some time to discover the techniques, make a collective effort to utilize them, and then enjoy the lots of benefits of being able to speed read.
